Coffs Harbour's submissions

Thank you to everyone who had their say!

Submissions regarding the PDNSW Rezoning Proposal for the Coffs Harbour Jetty Foreshore closed at 5pm on Monday 30 June.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to consider the proposal and to highlight the sloppy planning, flawed technical studies and potentially damaging outcomes for the environment, the city and our community.

We’ve published some submissions by community members below, and would love to be able to share as many as possible to demonstrate the broad array of concerns about the proposed rezoning from across the community.

If you object to the proposed rezoning and are happy to have your submission published here, please email: info@foreshoreforall.com

Thank you!

…It is clearly a developer’s (Property and Development NSW “PDNSW”) sales document rather than an impartial and comprehensive explanation of why Public open space land should be rezoned…

  • Frank Scarhill – full submission here
“…There is a clear contradiction between the illustrative Masterplan’s and Design Guidelines’ insistence on four to six storey development and height controls of 25 metres and 21.5 metres beside the Jetty walkway and North park precincts respectively. These controls clearly allow for eight and seven storey buildings and breach the undertaking to maintain the existing height control west of the railway…”

“… The Coffs Harbour Community has always been against apartment blocks east of the railway line, and in favour of developing recreational parkland with kiosks, cafes and entertainment venues…”

  • Mark and Julie Hannon – full submission here
“The Planning Proposal, whilst comprehensive in presentation, structure and content fails to address numerous planning, design, environmental, economic, sustainability and infrastructure considerations…”

  • Ian Hogbin – full submission here
“…case for change states that the City of Coffs Harbour is expected to grow to 106,575 people by 2041 – representing 35% population growth. Where is the detailed planning and assessment of needs for the region to determine: How much of the Jetty parklands will be needed as open/recreational space for the region? Where are the other available Land options to provide affordable housing? Surely there should be a cost /benefit analysis of all the options?”
